About Me

I’d rather hear about you. That’s the first thing you should know about me. But, if you’re reading this, I guess you sort of asked first, so I’ll tell you the things that float to the top…

I would rather walk than run.

Talk than text.

I can’t carry a tune in a bucket, but I make the best chicken pie on the planet.

Technology and I have never been friends. In fact, I suspect it hates me.

I am a lousy speller, terrible with directions, and a struggling gardener. But cut those stems and I can come up with something pretty decent.

I have been fiercely loyal to the cars in my life. I have owned only two. My first suburban took our son to first grade and to college. I intend to drive the second one into the dirt. Hopefully not literally.

I am an over-thinker and an early riser. (Maybe I rise early so I have more time to think. I’m sure I need to work on that.)

I am or have been a video scriptwriter, a wedding planner, and the proprietor of a tiny flower shop.

I’m also a big list maker.

All of these little quirks and silly details belong to Jesus, along with my next breath.

Thankfully, in the end, it is He who defines us. When we attempt to define ourselves we leave too much out and put the wrong things in, so it’s best to let Him do it.

About Family

In my life so far, I have loved one man, three children, seven grandchildren, and four dogs.

My husband and I have been married for 42 years. I started out as military wife. All these years later, I still consider myself one.
My husband is a professional pilot, and there’s not enough room here to tell the stories that go with that. We are opposites in many ways, but well-aligned in the things that matter. That is part of God’s grace to us. Our children are our treasures. They are also our friends. One of their greatest achievements is choosing amazing spouses. More evidence of God’s grace. Our grandchildren have out done us all, but isn’t that what grandchildren do?

We are loud and opinionated, always ready for a good meal, and genuinely interested in each other’s lives. We all believe that the circle around family is drawn too small, so we keep our door open wide and trust God to grow us as He sees fit. He always does.

About Life

God has given me a true passion to seek His paths of truth and joy (both literally and figuratively) and to invite others to join me. I would rather put pen to paper and share His message of love and hope than do anything else. Every twist and turn on this journey we call life, brings greater understanding of His truths, and I have picked up some good stuff along the way…

God is ever-faithful. Ever. Faithful.

Blood is not thicker than water.

Family is intentional. If it is not tended, it will not thrive.

God is the glue that holds a marriage together. End of story.

We raise our children best on our knees.

Forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts you can give someone, and one of the greatest you can receive.

Time is an excellent teacher and God will use it to teach us.

And, there is welcome relief in learning to laugh at yourself. It is a wonderful way to travel through life.

How funny. Six-hundred and thirty-five words to tell you about me, when in the end—it’s all about Him. It has to be. For in this life hidden in Christ—He’s the only thing that matters.

And this I know…We can trust Him.
